This Tuesday, the work started at the site of our new ceremonial building in the city of Alta.
We have great ambitions for this project, as it will be the northernmost ceremonial complex of its kind in the country, if not the world.
The complex will be a center for a wide spectre of ceremonies, both religious and non-religious. Christenings, weddings, confirmations and memorial services are all examples of ceremonies which this complex will facilitate ones it is completed.
“We want the building to be a place of unity to celebrate the ups and downs in life, where also memorials plays its natural part. Hence, we aim to create a warm, calming and dignified atmosphere who is fit for purpose as a celebration of life.” Says our CEO Svein Jøran Simonsen, who together with his wife Marita Rognli Simonsen, have been working on this project for the last two years.
Marita Rognli Simonsen owns and runs a local memorial service and have through her experience seen that there are substantial room for improvement within the local industry, both with regards to increasing quality for the community but also the safety and wellbeeing of her employees. In this complex she aims to incorporate and consolidate several services which today is widely spread both in terms of geographical area but also between the municipality and religious communities. Yet, at the same time respecting the existing structures. In addition, the local community will be introduced for new services that will increase the quality and comfort of the various ceremonies offered. Therefore, the complex will include services such as a dedicated wing for viewings where the relatives have access 24/7 to view the deceased without having to rely an any other than themselves, a kitchen that will provide catering for ceremonies, a florist, dining/ceremonial rooms, area for production of gravestones, office spaces and a washing hall for the agency’s cars.
Barents Real Estate has designed the complex and will be owning it, whilst the tenants will be companies such as Maritas memorial service.
We at Barents Group are very exited to finally have the construction started following a extensive planning phase togheter with the tenants. It is always rewarding to see ideas come into action and create value for customers and communities.
